Julie Harris’ practice focuses on civil litigation, especially defense of insured policyholders and carriers. Julie has successfully tried more than 30 cases to verdict before Connecticut juries and has resolved countless others in and out of the courtroom through bench trials, private arbitration and mediation. She has defended individuals, insurers, businesses and public entities in claims covering a wide spectrum of tort exposure from auto and premises liability to claims asserting liability for defective products, liquor liability, and professional liability. She has successfully handled appeals to Connecticut’s highest court on issues ranging from the authority of boards of education to enter into contracts to the liability of travel tour operators for injuries occurring overseas. Early in her career, she assisted on the brief for a seminal case in the field of uninsured motorist liability.

Prior to joining the firm in April 2014, Julie was a partner at Noble, Spector and O’Connor. When that firm dissolved, she, along with two associates, merged the Noble Spector insurance defense practice with that of Hassett & George. From 1988 to 2008, she was a senior trial attorney for AIG’s Connecticut staff counsel office where she handled cases of moderate to high exposure for insureds with commercial and professional liability policies.

Julie has served as an Attorney Trial Referee for the Hartford Superior Court, where she heard and decided cases as a fact finder and mediated resolutions of other pending matters.  She participated as a member of the Oliver Ellsworth Inn of Court. She is graduate of the Litigation Management Institute program created by the Claims & Litigation Management Alliance and a Certified Litigation Management Professional.  She regularly makes presentations to claims professionals handling matters pending in Connecticut courts and has written articles on practice topics for in-house and association newsletters.
